I was the child who couldn't wait to get home from school to write. From an early age, I had been particularly drawn to writing. Poetry, short stories, you name it. I was one of few who were excited in ELA to begin the writing and poetry unit.
I knew from the beginning that I wanted to be an author when I grew up. I had envisioned my name on bookshelves before I could even envision myself getting married. I begged my grandfather for a restored manual typewriter so that I could write my own poetry book. And I did.
Now, as an adult, I watched those dreams fade away—though it didn't go very far. I would come home from a long day of work and look forward to adding to all these stories I had congested in my mind.
