About the Author

Holly Killian is an indie author based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she lives with her husband and two children—cat children, of course—Garfield and Willow.

A lifelong writer, Holly wrote her first unpublished poetry collection at seventeen and has since filled countless notebooks and hard drives with manuscripts that may never see the light of day (and probably shouldn’t). After earning a B.A. in Early Childhood Education and an M.Ed. in Reading and Literacy with a Reading Specialist certificate, Holly spent several years as a teacher before stepping away from the classroom to pursue a more creative path.

These days, she works at Love, Pgh, where she spends most of her free time daydreaming about other books and getting lost in worlds of her own creation.

When she isn’t writing, Holly can usually be found on her porch, dreaming up stories, talking to her characters, and wondering how many more books she can possibly write.

She is the author of Highsummer, her debut romantasy novel.

A Debut Romantasy Novel:

HIGHSUMMER

The final sacrifice. This was it. Elara could feel it deep within her bones. She no longer had to give and give until nothing remained.
Her sister was enough.Ā

She had to be.

In old Eirholmian folklore, it’s been said that when one takes from the earth, it is never free. In order to take, you must give. And giving is far more dangerous than taking.

Newly crowned Queen Mira knows the cost of dark magic better than anyone. For years, her older sister Elara used Mira as a vessel for a power she could hardly control, until Elara attempted the ultimate sacrifice and stole the moon from the sky.

Now Eirholm is trapped beneath a never-ending sun, its people growing desperate and its future threatening to crumble.

When Elara resurfaces on Mira’s coronation day to reclaim the throne she believes was stolen from her, Mira can no longer hide behind the castle walls and let her sister push their kingdom towards ruin.Ā

To restore the moon and save her people, she enlists the help of Reed, Eirholm’s infuriatingly grumpy postmaster, and sets off across kingdoms in search of the sister who nearly killed her.

Between dangerous roads, questionable taverns, unlikely allies, and an attraction neither expected, Mira and Reed soon discover that finding Elara may be the easiest part of their journey.

Because dark magic always demands a sacrifice.

And this time, Mira refuses to be the one who bleeds.
